Sorry, this is not a review, but I am wondering if anyone has invested the £150 + required for this new Muscid tome:
Manual of Central European Muscidae (Diptera) - Morphology, Taxonomy, Identification and Distribution.
If so, is there any feedback - is it worth purchasing for those interested in Muscidae? I must say that it looks like it is a "must have", but I don't want to shell out that much cash only to be disappointed. I am particularly interested in its value for identifying Muscids in Britain.

Just learnt this from Martin Harvey (via Facebook):
" Saw it at the Dipterists Forum meeting, where Pemberley Books was offering £10 off, but it appears to be an almost exact reprint of Gregor et al. 2002. I gather there are a few new species in it, but very hard to justify the cost if you already have the 2002 version."
So unless anyone has a contrary review, I'll hold off buying this one for now. I got Gregor et al. (2002) some years ago for £18 I think!

I'm a sucker for a new book, and I've bought this one. So far, I can see little difference from the 2002 tome, except that the new one is well printed on good quality paper and appears to be decently bound. My copy of the 2002 volume fell apart after a few weeks of use. I was thinking of having it re-bound, so at least I've saved the cost of that. I'm told the new book is a genuine new edition, and not simply a reprint, but so far I haven't had time to look at it in detail.

Fortunately my 2002 version is intact after a fair bit of use. Forewarned, I shall not be purchasing this new edition. The publisher's have been disingenuous (to say the least!) in publicising this under a new title as if it's a new work, which clearly it is not. Glad I asked before buying.
