Tarsus

Figure 6. The tarsus is the apical part of a leg and consists of five segments (“tarsal segments” or “tarsomeres”). The first segment is termed the “metatarsus” or “basitarsus” and the fifth carries the claws and, when they are developed, three appendages: two pulvilli with an empodium between.
