 +===== Biology =====
 +The biology of this small family is little known. The larvae probably develop in the water-holding leaf bases of plants, particularly monocotyledons. The adults of some species often occur near water or at moist places and are closely associated with tussocks of large //Carex// species, others also with //Typha, Scirpus// or //Cyperus//. As in some Chamaemyiidae, the adults are able to walk sideways and backward with the same ease as forward.
