Behaviour of Diptera - bouncing cranefly

My first effort at capturing a bit of fly behaviour.

This is a short clip of the small cranefly Lipsothrix nervosa doing 'bouncing' or 'press-ups'.  This fly was reared from waterlogged dead wood and escaped as I was trying to empty the rearing pot.  It settled under my pooter and started bouncing.  It went on for quite a long time.  Does anybody know, or does anybody have any ideas as to why some craneflies do this?

I'll post a rather better picture of this fly in the gallery

Judy,

Was really looking forward to the video, but on clicking "play" got a message that it is no longer available. Is this a YouTube glitch or can you re-post it?

Sorry you cannot see it, Martin.  When I log on it plays perfectly well for me. Anybody else having problems getting it to play?

It might be fixed now, try again!  Poor quality image but hope other people might be able to post better things using this method

It didn't at first but it does now.
Reminds me of a famous cartoon,
Alf, Bill and Fred.
