Recording Scheme Update

As of 7 January 2018 the Tephritid Flies Recording Scheme database contains 34628 records for 80 species. The coverage is 1796 hectads in Great Britain, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. The number of named recorders is 932. All but 459 records have a site name and progress is under way to ascertain an approximation from the grid reference. The ten best recorded vice-counties, with number of species, are 17 (64); 9 (61); 10 (59); 11 (59); 15 (58); 16 (56); 14 (55); 18 (53); 63 (51) and 38 (51). The ten most widely distributed species, with number of heactads are Xyphosia miliaria (834); Urophora jaceana (655); Tephritis vespertina (582); Chaetostomella cylindrica (581); Urophora stylata (515); Euleia heraclei (481); Terellia ruficauda (476); Terellia tussilaginis (473); Urophora cardui (459) and Tephritis formosa (427).
