Re: Stilt Fly - Neria ?

I hope you get an answer, Neil, because I have its brother which is also waiting for identification.

Eventually I wandered off into Strongylophthalmyia species, and other similar options where I have become lost on what appears to be an uncertain journey.

Neria cibaria looks right to me. Don't take that as gospel though, I'm no expert on this group.

Re: Stilt Fly - Neria ?

Thanks Geoff and Howard. I have trawled  through our Micropezidae list and Neria sp seems favourite.

I get a steady stream of images from a bird photographer friend. I have supplied him with collecting tubes but suspect he may be a little tender hearted ;-)
I will have to get over there with my net

Regards, Neil
