Larvae.

Hello,

Whilst examining some bryophyte samples I came across what I thought was some kind of arthropod. I was duly corrected by Jason Green on Wild About Britain, it seems this is a larvae of possibly the Fanniidae species group.

Is anyone able to advise on this please?

Regards,
Andrew.

Re: Larvae.

Looks like Platypezidae, Callomyia.

Re: Larvae.

Also looks like some Fannia species. (Fairly sure that Callomyia has not got such an obvious front end.)

Re: Larvae.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately this specimen had dried up with the moss so I will not be able to rear this conclusively.

Regards,
Andrew.
