Phaonia Q

Hello

I am wondering if the Phaonia bristle is a pv bristle or a pd bristle or both depending on the species, it seems to me to be pv but I've seen pd also so am a bit confused

Thank you

Re: Phaonia Q

All British Phaonia species have a posterodorsal bristle in the apical third of the hind tibia. Some other genera also have this, so all you can be certain about is that if this bristle is missing your fly is not a Phaonia. Posteroventrals are optional!

Re: Phaonia Q

If the pd has been knocked off, you will still see a relativley large socket where it should have emerged,
