Terminology_2

I found this photo on Dipterain-fo, excellent close-up

http://diptera.info/photogallery.php?photo_id=6570

my question is how does 1 divide up the frons area, for example upper and lower or apical and basal in my mind the basal would be the black part so probably that is the apical part and the yellow part the basal part

Probably a silly question but I would be interested to know!

Thanks

Re: Terminology_2

Usually we do not speak of the basal and apical parts of the frons but of the anterior and posterior parts. The anterior part is the yellow part.
