Sending specimens by mail

I often receive specimens for identification in old plastic film cartons. In the past year, however, I have had to collect some parcels from the local Post Office and pay a fee (including 1 "handling cost"!) because of insufficient postage. Even though a film carton in a padded envelope is very light it is now classed as a small package and needs more postage than an ordinary letter.
