I found this little insect on some grass,and I thought it was a beetle but I am not really sure, so any help would be much appreciated..

Not a beetle but a bug, order Hemiptera. It looks like Leptopterna dolabrata (family Miridae), which is common in meadows - but I'm no expert.

I agree with the likely attribution. However there are many heteroptera with similar appearance. The website www.britishbugs.org.uk/systematic_het.html will illustrate the most common. Note Leptopterna ferrugata listed under the miridae is not dissimilar.
