Tiny fly from Clifton Bury Beds

On a very brief local excursion yesterday to Clifton Bury, Beds I found this tiny fly initially on Yarrow flowers. It is only about 3mm long. From my limited knowledge but on the basis of the very few veins in the wings I am suggesting this is Chloropidae. I would be very grateful if someone will tell me if I am right and possibly suggest an identification.

Many thanks

Alan

You are right, but I leave further suggestions to more knowledgable people.

Re: Tiny fly from Clifton Bury Beds

Dear Alan,

We will answer your email separately early next week. The fly is a Chlorops, and I would tentatively identify it as Chlorops laetus, which is notable. It should have fine hairs on the anepisternum, but your side view is not large enough. Perhaps you could send me the specimen? I will email our address to you.

Best wishes,

John Ismay
