Two more handsome flies from Bedfordshire

The species with three images was from Duck End NR Beds on 23 Jul swept from grassland beside a pond.

The species with two images was from a marshy/ dried up pond at Thurleigh Airfield on 25 Jul.

I wonder if both these species are perhaps Sciomyzidae? Any suggsetions as to their identity is welcome and greatly appreciated. I have retained the specimens.

Many thanks

Alan

Yes both are Sciomyzidae. I'm not sure about the first but the second is Limnia species.

Re: Two more handsome flies from Bedfordshire

Howard Bentley has very kindly examined the specimen of the Tetanocera and has identified it as T. ferruginea

My thanks to Howard for this
