Hi
I would like to ry and identify this fly. I live in France in a farming area and seem to be suffering from many bites to legs, arms and face. I am unsure if the flies are the cause as I did not think that they could inflict bites.
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Please let me know if other photos are required as the fly in these pictures might be a little deformed after hitting it with a fly swatter.

This looks like Musca domestica, but near stables you might well have Stomoxys calcitrans (http://www.diptera.info/photogallery.php?photo_id=6265) biting you.

Thanks
No stables or horses for a few miles. Plenty of cows and chickens though. Have a large dairy herd and many beef herds in adjacent fields and barns. Also there is two chicken houses.

In the past I have been bitten around the ankles by Stomoyx calcitrans from a nearby dairy farm. Incidentally the photo from diptera.info is not a lot of help for indentification apart from the mouthparts which are well illustrated. However it should not be too difficult to swat a Stomoxys when you feel it bite. Bites on arms and face might suggest mosquito? or flea? I agree your photo is of Musca domestica , which does not bite.
Good luck
